Supervision details
I am a warm, friendly and down to earth person who is able to offer a safe and confidential supervision space where you will feel supported, encouraged and enabled. I strive to be the kind of supervisor who is without judgement and will be there for you, not only when things are going well, but when things are tough. Being a counsellor can be challenging; especially because our personal lives run alongside. My supervision sessions have both the client and my supervisee at the heart of the work we do together. I see supervision as two professionals together; so that you can be at your very best in the work you do with clients. We both bring experience, skills and knowledge and by coming together we are able to sense and see things in relation to our clients that we are unable to do alone.
Alongside being a Counsellor and Supervisor I have worked in the Criminal Justice System for 35 years. I have been a Probation Officer for the last 21 years. I spent ten years seconded to two Youth Offending Services (Newcastle and Northumberland) working with young people aged 10 - 18 years. I have extensive knowledge of working with neurodiversity especially in relation to Autism, ADHD and Personality Disorders. Most of my work involves those with addiction issues and significant childhood trauma. Safeguarding is a primary function of this work.
I have been a qualified counsellor for the last eight years and a Supervisor for four years. Having originally trained in Person Centred Counselling I see myself as Integrative in practice. I have experience in working therapeutically with children 5 years through to adults in their 80s. I continue to work with clients and split my time equally between being a supervisor and a therapist in my own private practice.
In terms of supervision, I currently supervise both trainee and qualified Counsellors who are trained/training in the following modalities; Person Centred, Psychodynamic, CBT and Gestalt. I use the Seven Eyed Model for supervision.
I normally charge £60 for 90 mins supervision (online) or £45 for 60 minutes. I offer both evening and weekend supervision sessions. In addition, I will make time between formal supervision sessions, if you need additional support in your client work.
Thank you for reading my profile. Please email me if you have any questions that I might not have covered. I offer a free initial telephone call/zoom session to see if I am right for you.
Warmest wishes for your journey ahead. Helen

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
