About me

We often prioritise our physical health; taking trips to the GP when feeling unwell. However we can also seek support for our mental health, instead of leaving ourselves to feel low, sad, anxious, unfulfilled or helpless.

At identity therapies I uphold the understanding that one style of therapy cannot possibly match all identities, which is why I have trained as an integrative counsellor and psychotherapist.

When counselling I use but am not confined to the following approaches:

Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT):This therapy is most beneficial for eradicating negative thoughts, patterns and behaviours including panic attacks. It focuses on practical ways to improve your current issues and anxieties. In doing so it allows you to maintain a healthier more fulfilling lifestyle.

Psychodynamic approach: This therapy focuses on the effect that your early experiences have had on your present life and how they have shaped who you are today.  By working through any unresolved issues you are able to let go of negative past experiences and build healthier relationships with yourself and others.

Person-centred approach: This therapy allows you to recognise your true identity and full potential through self-awareness. It provides you with a space to be heard, understood and not judged. Ultimately you are able to build healthier relationships whilst better understanding who you are.

Please give me a call, text or email to make an enquiry or arrange a 50 minute consultation where we can talk about some of the issues that you would like to work through. From here we can decide the style of therapy that's best for you.

Psychotherapist

I run a private practice providing both short and long-term therapeutic support for adults, young people and couples. I practice integratively, tailoring the therapy to suit the needs of each client, whilst building a strong therapeutic relationship. My practice also includes supporting trainee counsellors to provide their desired  of both therapeutic and mentor-like therapy to guide them through their training as well as personal difficulties.

For the past few years I have been providing safe, non-judgemental and professional 1-1 counselling within the NHS for those experiencing mental health conditions (e.g. depression, anxiety, eating disorders), upsetting physical health conditions, difficult life events (e.g. bereavement), difficult emotions and other issues (e.g. sexual identity). I am trained to work with clients of all risk-levels including those who are high-risk/suicidal.

I am also employed as a Student Counsellor where I offer young people in schools a safe confidential space filled with empathy and acceptance to share and work through any personal issues they may be facing.

Alongside both these roles I run a private practice providing both short and long-term therapeutic support for adults, young people and couples. I practice integratively, tailoring the therapy to suit the needs of each client, whilst building a strong therapeutic relationship. My practice also includes supporting trainee counsellors to provide their desired blend of therapy. This can include therapeutic and mentoring techniques to guide them through their training as well as personal difficulties.

Supervisor

As a supervisor in adherence with BACP values and ethics, my mission is to provide therapists with a safe confidential space, where I will strive to create a robust, authentic supervisory relationship, laying a secure foundation for supervisees to develop into their most optimal professional selves. I will use a range of supervisory skills and interventions to empower supervisees and provide personalised support, mentorship and counsel that best reflects each supervisee’s level of expertise. I will maintain my principles of respecting individual autonomy, building a strong supervisory alliance and maximising my availability through regular, well-structured online supervisory sessions, ensuring all supervisees are met wherever they are at.

My vision is to uphold my principle of beneficence by improving mental health throughout the nation, creating a successful and ethical supervisory space that nurtures this generation of psychotherapists and counsellors, who can go on to offer highly skilled and specialised therapy to those in need. This particularly includes therapists from minority groups like myself, who are under-represented in psychological fields and deserve to be recognised for their unique selves. In line with my philosophical and Christian values of justice and equality, I aim to progress culturally competent counselling as I believe irrespective of your culture, race and beliefs all individuals should have just and fair access to expert mental health support that is free from judgement, ignorance, prejudice and stigma.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
