About me

* I currently have availability for parent consultations only. Some weekly spaces for young adult / teen / child sessions might open up again in April/May 2024. Please contact me if you would like to be added to my waiting list. *

I am an integrative counsellor and psychotherapist specialised in working with children, young people, and families (MA Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy for Children, Adolescents and Families from the University of Roehampton).

I have over two decades experience working with children, young people and adults in education, mental health and community settings. I tailor sessions for each individual, drawing on a range of approaches. Not being limited by one theoretical viewpoint allows me to work with clients in a non-judgemental, collaborative and creative way.

Young adults
I enjoy working with young adults from very diverse cultural, social and economic backgrounds, facing a wide range of issues. These include: anxiety, trauma, loss and bereavement, abuse, relationship difficulties, depression and low self-esteem, as well as challenges around sexuality, identity and cultural belonging. I am passionate about working with you to understand your unique circumstances and experience and finding out what supports you. I offer a free 15 min introductory chat if you would like to explore if I might be the right fit for you.

Teenagers
If you are a parent or carer looking for help for your teenager you might be concerned about a variety of things. Your teenager may seem generally unhappy, anxious or withdrawn. They might be hurting others or themselves. They might have experienced challenges early on in life that still seem to affect them. A confidential space to explore what might be going on for them can be of real benefit and enable teenagers to make their own choices and move forward in their lives. A range of creative media (such as painting, drawing, storytelling, drama, sand and clay) can be included to suit individual needs and preferences.

Children
Children may not be developmentally ready to put their feelings into words or to articulate the things that are impacting on their wellbeing. Their natural way to explore their world and express themselves is through play. I provide a safe therapeutic space where children can communicate at their own level and pace and make sense of their life experiences through play and/or talking. I also offer support and guidance to parents and carers who would like to learn new ways of using play to support their child at home.

Training, qualifications & experience

MA Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy for Children, Adolescents and Families (Distinction), University of Roehampton.

BSc Cultural and Social Anthropology, University of Amsterdam.

I have further training in expressive arts and somatic movement and I am also a qualified Parent-Child Attachment Play (PCAP) practitioner.

I have over two decades experience working creatively (as an applied theatre practitioner) and therapeutically (as a counsellor and psychotherapist) in education, mental health and community settings. I have particular experience working with children, young people and adults impacted by acute, chronic and complex trauma, including refugees and asylum seekers and children in care.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
