About me

I'm a fully qualified and accredited psychodynamic psychotherapist, who has many years of experience of working with people to help them feel better about themselves.

The type of therapy I practice focuses on past events to understand what is happening in the present.

By exploring this, we might be able to gain insight into your life, in order that you can understand yourself a bit better.

Usually, this type of therapy would be open-ended which means, by definition, that there is no fixed end date, although we will regularly reflect on the work, with a view to working towards an end point.

In addition to open-ended therapy, I also offer short term work, which consists of 12 sessions that are mainly focused on a specific issue.

Although I work with both men and women, I do have a particular interest in working with men who find it difficult to talk about their feelings.

I have a consulting room in central London, and also in Queen's Park in north west London. I also work online.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a Post Graduate Diploma in psychodynamic psychotherapy theory and practice from WPF.

This involved undertaking a rigorous and in-depth training, the best of its kind in the country.

I am also a member of the following organisations:

  • British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC)
  • United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)
  • British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP)
  • Foundation for Psychotherapy and Counselling (FPC)

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BPC
British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC)

The British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC) is a professional association, representing the profession of psychoanalytic psychotherapy.

The organisation is itself made up of fourteen member organisations and BPC accredits the trainings of its member organisations. An individual who qualifies from one of these trainings is then eligible for entry into the BPC's register.

BPC registrants are governed by a code of ethics, a policy of continuing professional development, a statement on confidentiality and a complaints procedure. The BPC is a Member Society of the European Federation for Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy in the Public Sector (EFPP). Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Additional information

I always discuss fees during an initial consultation, as they vary depending on the type of therapy that is most appropriate.

Further information

Finding a psychotherapist can be daunting, and very confusing, with a lot of terminology and names that might feel complicated and mystifying.

My view is that therapy doesn't need to be so confusing and shrouded in secrecy and strange names.

To put it simply, I offer you the chance to talk about whatever might be troubling you in total confidence at the same time, on the same day, in the same place, every week.
