About me

Hi, I’m Gavriel. As an HCPC registered Psychodynamic Music Therapist, with a background in adult and young people's mental health in NHS settings, I use music as a medium to help adults and young people experiencing mental health difficulties reconnect with themselves, work through challenges, and uncover the innate wisdom and self-love within.

Employing an eclectic approach, I draw upon Psychoanalytic/Psychodynamic, Nordoff Robbins (music-centred), humanistic and person-centred therapy approaches. As a member of the British Association for Music Therapy, I adhere to their code of ethics. My practice offers both in-person and online sessions integrating music and talk therapy.

What is Music Therapy?

Music Therapy is a clinical and evidence-based practice that utilises the universal language of music to enhance emotional, mental, and physical well-being, tailored to individualised goals within a therapeutic relationship.

In Music Therapy, the focus is on the 'therapy' rather than solely on the 'music'. Music serves as a medium for developing and exploring the client-therapist relationship. Within this authentic, confidential, and non-judgmental setting, we can address your deepest concerns, relationships, challenges, and triumphs in a safe, productive, and creative manner.

You don't need any musical skills to benefit. Various musical styles, instruments, and activities can be incorporated. Sessions might include:

  • Improvising live music
  • Songwriting/Lyric writing
  • Recording/Producing music using electronic music software and hardware
  • Talking about music
  • Mindful listening to music
  • Guided meditations with musical accompaniment
  • Using art materials
  • Dancing, singing, screaming, or sitting in silence
  • No music at all, and only talking

Talk Therapy

Utilising a psychotherapeutic framework, my goal is to facilitate a supportive dialogue that promotes self-understanding, coping with difficulties, and personal growth toward a more fulfilling life. Therapy commonly addresses issues such as anxiety, relationship conflicts, loneliness, emotional struggles, depression, life transitions, fears, anger, grief, and loss.

My holistic approach to therapy informs my practice, aiming to establish meaningful connections and foster healing through creativity and dialogue.
