About me

Life can be complicated, it often throws challenges our way and it can be difficult to make sense of our feelings throughout these times. I believe that as individuals, we all have the capability to make positive changes to our lives and this starts with ourselves.

As a counsellor I offer a confidential and safe space for you to explore your feelings and increase your self awareness so you feel better equipped  to make decisions  based on what is right for you. I knew from an early age I wanted to become a counsellor and my reason for choosing this career path is simply that I wanted to help and empower people to make positive changes to their lives. I will always aim to ensure you feel listened to and respected in an environment which is safe from judgement and negativity.

Before counselling I spent many years as a work coach, helping people with unemployment and life skills so that they may gain control of their lives and move forwards in the direction they choose. Having worked with individuals from so many backgrounds and having experienced counselling personally, I understand that it can often feel daunting, especially when choosing to talk to somebody you’ve never met. However I do believe counselling is a way to equip yourself with the skills needed to feel positive about life again and I will endeavour to support  you at your pace so that we can bring about the changes you desire together.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Further information

I’ve dedicated myself to helping others and have worked in several counselling environments including charities and a hospice. As a working mother I understand the pressures daily life can bring and throughout my training  I spent two years working with many women who have suffered crisis pregnancies, miscarriage, pregnancy loss and infertility.  Additionally I’ve spent several years working with those who are bereaved or are facing the loss of a loved one.  Having completed my placement at a local hospice, I continue to volunteer there during my spare time. However my experience and the counselling I offer is not limited to  crisis or bereavement and other issues I am able to help with include:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Domestic abuse
  • Stress
  • Work
  • Low self esteem and confidence
  • Pregnancy (including loss)
  • Family issues
  • Bereavement
  • Unemployment

If you feel that I could be the right counsellor for you, I am happy to have an informal chat and discuss your needs prior to arranging your sessions.  Please feel free to contact me via phone or email.
