About me

Making the decision to start counselling can be tough, which is why I will provide as safe and supportive a space for you as possible.

You might be struggling with an issue that's only been a problem for a few weeks, or it may be something that has been running in the background for as long as you can remember. Talking to someone impartial and non-judgmental, and feeling heard within a confidential therapeutic relationship can be hugely helpful.

I trained in psychodynamic and person-centred models of therapy, but don't believe that any one size fits all, which is why we will work together to figure out what you need from therapy.

I am the in-house counsellor for a secondary school in Edinburgh, where I see students and staff. I have extensive experience of working with adolescents and young people, so if you are worried about a young person you know, please don't hesitate to get in touch to discuss whether therapy with me might be a good fit for them.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have worked as a counsellor/psychotherapist for thirteen years. I am the in-house counsellor for a secondary school in Edinburgh. I also run a small online private practice where I work with clients aged 16+.

I worked for Place2Be as a student counsellor and as a Level Three Teaching Assistant for students with special educational needs.

I hold a PG Diploma and Counselling Certificate from The University of Edinburgh, as well as a Counselling Certificate from Sheffield Hallam University.

I am a Member of the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy) and I adhere to the BACP Ethical Framework.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
