About me
Hello, and a warm welcome!
- Are you feeling low, overwhelmed or constantly anxious?
- Do you struggle with building or maintaining relationships?
- Are self-limiting beliefs holding you back from reaching your goals and achieving your full potential?
Counselling can be an amazing way of gaining the perspective and tools that you need in order to heal or grow 🌿
The experience can help you to develop self-acceptance & self-esteem (among many other things), enabling you to be present in the moment and enjoy your life!
My name is Emily Giles, I am a qualified person-centred counsellor and cognitive behavioural therapist. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP) and I have 9 years of professional work experience within the field of mental health, 4 of which have been spent working as a counsellor.
I appreciate the strength and courage it can take to begin your counselling journey and just how daunting it can be. However, I would like to reassure you that I pride myself on my ability to foster and nurture strong connections with all of my clients; I place the upmost importance on key values within the therapeutic relationship including trust, respect and empathy, which enables my clients to feel relaxed and at ease very quickly within sessions.
I am also passionate about providing the best and most appropriate support for each individual client, as I completely empathise with the frustration and disappointment that can occur when you feel as if you are not getting the help that you need and more importantly, deserve! As a result, I ensure to apply an imaginative and creative approach to sessions, utilising integrative methods, meaning that I draw from many different therapeutic approaches in order to tailor each session to best suit your individual needs.
Although the therapeutic process can of course be very challenging, I strongly believe that the therapeutic process (along with being educational and inspiring) can also be fun or interesting & enjoyable too! I am excited for you and the journey you are about to embark on and very much look forwards to meeting you!
I offer a free 20-30 minute telephone or video introductory call in which I provide in-depth information regarding what sessions with me might look like for you & I will answer any questions or concerns you may have. You can then go away and have a think about it - there is absolutely no pressure to choose to have counselling sessions with me 😊

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
