About me

Are you finding it hard to cope at the moment, dealing with a crisis or significant change? Are you struggling to concentrate, feel tense and on edge? Maybe you feel disconnected from others and your relationships are suffering? Or are you an adult or teen experiencing anxiety or depression?

Perhaps you feel stuck and want to change your situation. Gaining insight into what may be driving the behaviours/patterns that are causing the problems in your life, will provide you with an opportunity to shift your mindset to live a more balanced life and improve the quality of your relationships. Learning more about yourself will give you a deeper sense of self-awareness, allowing you to move forward with clarity and understanding.

I know life can be really difficult at times and I understand reaching out for support can be daunting. By considering counselling you've taken the first step towards change. Therapy can be hard at the start, messy in the middle and beautiful at the end, helping you to to think clearer and put positive coping mechanisms in place.

Having worked in many different settings I have gained a depth of professional and life experience as well as non-judgemental acceptance of diversity and difference. If you feel misunderstood, confused or distressed, I offer a confidential and safe space to work collaboratively with you to find opportunities for improved ways of coping and ways to reduce stress.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a registered member of the BACP (British Association for Counsellors & Psychotherapists) and abide by their ethical framework.

As well as my private practice I have many years experience working with young people and adults in various settings, including counselling experience in a women's centre, a university and a school for specific needs. I have experience of working with adults and teens experiencing low mood and depression; panic and anxiety; low self-esteem; grief and loss; relational difficulties; ADS, ADHD and OCD.

I have an Integrative Degree in Counselling (Greenwich University) and Levels 1-3 in Counselling Skills (ABC). As part of my continued professional development (CPD) I regularly attend workshops/courses to build my knowledge and keep up to date.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
