About me

Hi, I’m Diya and I am a qualified integrative counsellor and therapist.

Life can often be challenging and demanding, and reasons for seeking out counselling and therapy are varied and unique. Counselling and therapy can help by offering a safe and non-judgemental space to explore thoughts, emotions, and experiences in more depth.

This process can provide relief, clarity and greater self-awareness to navigate difficulties, develop coping mechanisms, challenge un-helpful patterns and ultimately foster personal growth and wellbeing.

It takes courage to take this step.

What I offer:

  • Face to face sessions in London Bridge, Clapham Junction and Wimbledon. Please note that I have some availability left for in-person sessions on Monday 9pm, Wednesday 8 or 9 pm and Friday 4pm onwards.
  • Online and phone sessions. I welcome clients from any location.
  • Short-term sessions (usually between 6 to 12 sessions depending on individual needs) and long term open-ended therapy.
  • Non-judgemental, collaborative and culturally sensitive sessions to adults (18+). My integrative training means that I can tailor my approach to suit individual needs and requirements.

How I work:

As an integrative counsellor and therapist, I draw from and integrate different approaches in my work including:

  • person centred
  • psychodynamic
  • trauma informed thinking
  • somatic and body work
  • CBT
  • mindfulness among others.

I feel strongly that client’s needs are different and should not be forced or squeezed into a singular way of thinking. I tailor my approach based on what works for you and welcome feedback on what’s working and what can be done differently.

I consider the interconnectedness of the mind and body. I not only explore your past, present and hopes for the future but also include other influences that can impact us, for example, the socio-political climate, different cultures, value systems and expectations and intergenerational experiences. I provide practical techniques and strategies to support you in the present and future.

I am committed towards honouring and respecting differences and diversity be it culture, sexuality, gender, family or faith amongst others. I have experience of working with clients from diverse backgrounds.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Further information

It is important to find the right therapist with whom you can feel comfortable and safe.

Keeping this in mind, I offer a free no-obligation 20 minute conversation which is an opportunity for us to connect and introduce ourselves. We can discuss practicalities such as your availability and I can answer any questions that you have. If we both feel we can work together, we will schedule our first session together.

Following this, in our first session, we will explore what is bringing you to therapy in more detail. We can discuss your expectations, if you would like short-term or open-ended sessions. This session will last for 50 minutes and will be charged at my usual fee.

If you would like to proceed, we will then schedule ongoing sessions. Sessions will usually take place at the same time weekly.
