About me

I know when things can get a little too much it can be difficult to discuss some feelings and worries with family and friends. It can be difficult to keep anxiety under control or to keep pretending to the world that all is fine when inside you feel worthless and just not good enough. It can be challenging to navigate the world when it feels like your difference, be it your race, sexuality or neurodiversity can make you feel ‘othered.’ Speaking with a counsellor can help you make sense of what is going on for you.  And this is why I love what I do.  I see how the unique counselling environment I provide can bring about positive change.  I am supportive, non-judgmental, and compassionate, this allows you to explore whatever it is you want to bring into the room, and secure in the knowledge that what you say in that space is confidential and safe. I am led by you and do short-term work for those people that feel they need to tackle a particular issue. I also work long-term for those people that feel they could benefit from a deeper exploration of where they are.

I do not believe we can neatly fit into boxes and you do not need a specific issue to have counselling with me. But below are some common issues that counselling can help with.

  • Feelings of stress and anxiety
  • Panic attacks
  • Life-changing illnesses, ie a cancer diagnosis
  • Grief, loss or bereavement
  • Problems with addiction
  • Trauma
  • Anticipatory bereavement/grief
  • Abuse
  • Depression
  • Issues with self-esteem
  • Body image and positivity
  • Anger management
  • Issues relating to sexuality
  • Transitional life stages
  • Becoming a carer for a loved one
  • Family problems

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Additional information

I offer a free twenty minute telephone assessment, this is where you can talk with me about what you hope to get from counselling and I can explain how I work and see if we can work together.  If after our telephone call you would like to book a session, I charge a reduced fee of £35 for that first session.  There is no obligation to continue, but if we feel that we can work together I then charge £50 for each further session.

I usually work weekly, but I can also provide sessions every two weeks. I offer face-to-face or zoom sessions. Although you are free to finish counselling at any point, an optimal minimum amount of sessions would be between 6-12 weeks.
