About me

Hello and welcome to my counselling practice. My name is Danusia and I am a warm and calm counsellor practicing in Sevenoaks, offering both face-to-face and online sessions if preferred.

Many different reasons and experiences can leave someone questioning if counselling can help them. We all have difficult moments in our lives when we might need some support. Perhaps you are trying to cope with grief or are struggling with a relationship or parenting.  You might be feeling worried, coping with stress all the time, or feeling sad or down, wanting your life to change in some way.

I listen to you; I think and explore what is difficult for you with you. I am passionate that understanding ourselves and our experiences in a compassionate, warm, and non-judgemental space can help us not only cope with whatever difficulties we face but empower us to develop the relationships we want, change what might not serve us and find a way to live how we want to.

Counselling is a unique space to do just that. My practice is psychodynamic which is especially helpful in identifying thoughts and feelings that we aren’t aware of that impact how we feel and cope with life. Past experiences in childhood, cultural stories, trauma, bullying, family issues, or losses can have a greater impact than we might imagine and can affect how we feel right now. Together, we can make sense of how you are feeling and find a way forward that feels more authentic and welcome for you.

Training, qualifications & experience

I offer weekly sessions at a regular time and in a safe, secure, and confidential place, face-to-face in Sevenoaks or online. I am well-trained and experienced. I have a BACP-accredited Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling and experience with clients in schools, private practice, and within charitable agencies.  I am an accredited member of the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP) which means that I have been assessed by the BACP as meeting their higher standard of competence and ethics.  I work to the BACP's Ethical Framework.

I have worked with clients who have brought many different experiences.

I often work with clients who are managing life-stage issues, low self-esteem, anxiety (including social anxiety), depression, loneliness, low confidence, and difficulties with identity and sexuality.  I have supported people struggling with bereavement and loss, including suicide bereavement, those bereaved through drug or alcohol-related death, and ambiguous loss.

Some of the family issues I have worked with include estrangement, relationship difficulties, pre- and post-natal depression, and worries about being a parent. I have experience in working with parents of children on the autism spectrum.

My recent training includes: Coping after a Trauma, Traumatic Bereavement, Supporting Children with Autism and ADHD, Disordered Eating, Unhealthy Relationships, Forgiveness, and Self-harming behaviour.

If you would like to explore counselling with me, you can contact me and we will arrange a free telephone consultation. It is important that you feel safe and comfortable with me so that we can work together. We can talk about what you might need, I can answer any questions you might have about me and my practice.  If I don’t feel like the right fit for whatever reason, there is no obligation to continue and I will endeavour to recommend someone for you.

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
