About me
I have worked within mental health services for over 10 years and have seen the benefit counselling and psychotherapy can have on an individual's mental health. I believe having a safe space to explore your thoughts and feelings greatly improves a person's mental health. I am trained to work psychodynamically.
If you have found my page you maybe want to learn more about yourself, you maybe experiencing distress in parts of your life or you may find yourself in the same difficult relationships or engaging in the same unwanted behaviours. Whatever your difficulties may be there is a part of you that is reaching out for help and apart of you that believes that things can be better. I would very much welcome the opportunity to work with you to realise whatever better might be for you.
Starting therapy can be daunting which is why I offer an introductory call or an initial consultation. This is when we'll have the opportunity to talk on the phone about what brings you to psychotherapy and think about possibilities of how best to proceed.
The Psychodynamic approach
Psychodynamic psychotherapy is a process of growth, self-discovery and change by exploring how current difficulties can be influenced by past early relationships. The psychodynamic method has its roots in psychoanalysis promoting 'free association', speaking freely about what comes to mind; to think about unconscious connections between the past and present experiences. Sessions are led by you, where we work together in understanding the issues you may bring. We can focus on whatever is on your mind on that day or in that moment. There is no how-to manual, no agenda and no formula. I believe that working together we can create a safe thinking space which enables deeper reflection on yourself as well as your experience of the people and the world around you.
Short term psychotherapy
I can offer short term problem focused psychotherapy that will allow you to explore a specific issue. This would normally be 6 to 24 sessions.
Open ended psychotherapy
I can offer open ended psychotherapy where there is no set time period. Long term psychotherapy allows a deeper exploration of yourself, how you relate to others and how past experiences influence the present.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
