About me

Hi my name is Clare and I work in the South of Leicestershire in a private practice as an integrative counsellor, working within a person-centred approach. I am offering you a comfortable and private space so that we can work together through any issues that you may bring to the session. Within this non-judgemental and confidential setting you will have time to explore, reflect and understand your emotions, feelings and what is happening to you, wherever you are in your life right now.

Working within the Integrative approach of therapy means that I can draw upon different models of counselling to support you. By being presented with the right tools at the right times, you can take control to move forward or assist a shift in perception. Simply by being heard can often be the catalyst to your healing.

If you would like any further information please do not hesitate to contact me.
As I realise that the first session is full of mixed emotions, questions and answers, I offer you a free initial consultation.

My Experience

I have gained wide range of experience throughout my therapeutic work.

I have been given the opportunity to work within the local authority residential children’s services to offer therapeutic support to children and young people across a number of settings. This role also includes regular consultations, meeting with their social workers and mental health team. Their aim is to ensure that all who care for the well being of the child are working towards creating a more harmonious relationship, whilst offering them a confidential space and time to explore their feelings and emotions, their attachments and boundaries and consider their learnt behaviour offers them a time to learn new positive choices.

I have experience of working within a therapeutic organisation to counsel children and young people who are survivors of sexual assault and abuse. Offering both pre and post trial therapy to support the individual to work through the emotional trauma.

I also have experience of working as a school counsellor, supporting teenagers and young adults. This work deals with issues of bullying, confidence & self-esteem, self harm and eating disorders, phobias, relationship & family issues, cultural and religious issues, rape and sexual abuse, LGBT and body issues. Grief and loss and also exam and study issues. This work is both long and short term counselling supporting the client to explore, learn and find a path to progress into their future.

Whilst working at the Leicester Rape Crisis centre I have counselled individuals dealing with the emotions of rape, sexual abuse and domestic violence and the traumas and effects this can bring. Whilst there I have supported a vast number of clients who arrived at the centre struggling with the trauma and within their journey of counselling found a new path as a survivor of their past.

I have also supported and counselled families and parents within Face 2 Face befriending charity and New Dawn family services, working with families living with a disability, health issues and who are struggling with difficult circumstances.

I have experience of working with many issues within these settings from self harm, addiction, suicidal thought, self esteem and body image issues, to depression, stress & anxiety to abuse, relationship & bereavement. I have experience of working with both adults and teenagers and young people within these differing settings.

I am a fully insured and a registered Senior Accredited member of The National Counselling Society. I am an associate member of Play Therapy UK (PTUK)

Areas of counselling I deal with

Other areas of counselling I deal with

Couples and Family therapy.

5 reasons why therapy is a good idea:-

1, The decision is based upon wanting to talk openly and stay together.

2,There is an acknowledgement that help is available and that they would like to take up the offer in a confidential setting.

3. You have agreed to ask for help from someone who has studied in an area of expertise that they need to work through.

4. The opportunity to work through this openly and experience healing and positive change is being embraced.

5. Soon the couple / family will start to peel away the layers of their life together and find that love is underneath.
