About me

Hello. My name is Claire and I am a fully qualified Psychodynamic Psychotherapist registered with the UK Council for Psychotherapy, (UKCP), and the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, (BACP).

When life becomes difficult or you are faced with challenges, starting therapy can feel daunting. By providing a safe, non-judgemental and confidential environment for you to discuss issues such as anxiety, stress, depression, anger, loss, trauma, low self-esteem, I tailor the therapy to meet your needs, and offer both open-ended and short-term psychotherapy.

Providing a space for you to share and reflect on emotional, mental, and behavioural issues that may be troubling or difficult to work through collaboratively we work together to understand your unconscious thoughts, behaviours and emotions.

Through gaining a deeper understanding of yourself and your experiences, you can begin to feel more in control of your inner world and life, develop new perspectives, and acquire more helpful ways of coping or relating to others.

I have experience working with a wide range of psychological and emotional issues. Some of the areas include:

  • Anxiety and Depression: Helping individuals identify and overcome symptoms of anxiety and depression, providing insight and support for a healthier mental state.
  • Trauma and Loss: Assisting individuals in processing and healing from complex and single-event trauma, as well as navigating the grieving process.
  • Relationship Difficulties: Addressing challenges in personal and professional relationships, fostering better communication and understanding.
  • Self-Esteem and Identity: Supporting individuals in building self-confidence, exploring personal identity, and developing a positive self-image.
  • Work-related Issues: Assisting individuals in managing work-related stress, addressing career challenges, and finding a healthy work-life balance.
  • Life Stages: Helping individuals navigate and understand life stages  including adolescence, menopause, and older years that impact their mental health and relationships.
  • ADHD: helping individuals with ADHD or ADD navigate the world and build coping strategies.

Training, qualifications & experience

I trained at  WPF Therapy (Westminster Pastoral Foundation). gaining the Foundation Certificate and  the Clinical Qualification in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy.

I have also volunteered with the Samaritans and worked as a peer mentor for Mind.

I am registered with and accredited by both the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP), and work to their codes of ethics. I am also a member of the Federation of Psychotherapists and Counsellors (FPC).

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

UKCP
UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.

As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.

UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
