About me

Sometimes it can feel overwhelming starting the process, I'm glad you have found your way here to start to access help.

I provide a friendly, compassionate and relaxed atmosphere in which you can experience non-judgmental support and an impartial listening ear, as well as strategies for change.

Whether you are looking for help with low mood, anxiety/ generalised anxiety,  low self-esteem, work-related issues, relationship/family problems, substance misuse, grief, or need some psychological support through a difficult time. Please contact me by email or telephone to discuss your needs further.

In the initial session we will talk about what you would like to get out of therapy and any difficulties you may currently have. I will answer any questions you have about therapy and will explain what will happen from there.

We will agree on the type of help you would like and how many sessions will be helpful and achievable. it may be that we set up a number of sessions and then review our progress. I offer both short-term and long-term therapy.

Together we will think about the problems you are experiencing and try to understand how these problems have arisen, what is keeping them going, and how we can help you to move forward. In order to do this, we will use a number of therapeutic approaches and skills informed by Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).

What is most important to me is our relationship. Working relationally means building a trusting and honest relationship whilst using this as a basis for successful therapy.

I am a qualified and experienced counsellor, who has over 16 years worth  of experience working in the mental health sector with a wide variety of individuals. I have had the pleasure of working with 18+ adults through to older elderly people. supporting them through their challenges. I may work in a number of ways with you and adapt my approach to suit your individual needs.

I work from an office in Pontefract West Yorkshire near the town centre. I do have access to another office in Wakefield West Yorkshire near the town centre. I can also cover all areas Telephone and Online via various platforms.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
