About me

Hi my name is Claire King and I am a qualified integrative counsellor working with adults and adolescents. I am registered with the British Association of Counsellors and psychotherapists - BACP and I practice within the guidelines of their ethical framework. I am passionate about supporting other people through difficult times In their lives and have 4 years experience working with the Samaritans. During this difficult time we are facing, I am offering telephone and online counselling to all who feel they need some support through this time of uncertainty.

Sometimes we can feel 'stuck' and life throws us challenges that can feel overwhelming with feelings of anxiety, sadness or anger which get in the way of us moving forward.  I am a caring and empathic person who offers a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space where together we can explore your current situation while forming a trusting therapeutic relationship.

Counselling can provide a safe space where we can explore the difficulties worrying you, and where past traumatic experiences and feelings can be thought about. Emotional and psychological difficulties can become problematic and have a negative impact on our everyday life.  I offer a space where we can look at these difficult feelings, where you can feel heard and understood, leading to greater self-awareness to be able to identify where repetitive patterns of behaviour may underlie your presenting symptoms.

I aim to help clients believe in themselves by recognising their self-worth and developing their self esteem, to help where feelings of sadness can lead to depression, panic attacks and generalised anxiety and may be taking over and preventing changes taking place to provide a more fulfilling life.

Sometimes words are hard to find or don't seem enough, if this is something that you recognise then we can look at working with other methods such as imagery, writing, sensory objects etc.

If this is something you feel may help you please contact me where we can discuss this further together.

Call or email me to make your first appointment, where we can discuss what counselling entails and see if it is right for you.
We can then make further appointments if you wish to go ahead and we will arrange to meet weekly or fortnightly.

I have an enhanced DBS and abide by the code of ethics set out by the BACP.

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
