About me

Are you feeling anxious, stuck, lost, hurt or confused and the same things happen over and over? Maybe you notice things from your past affecting how you are able to connect with people now? Do you feel helpless and unable to cope in the face of a new and sudden crisis? Do you feel that life is empty and lacking in meaning? These are all issues that can be illuminated by the counselling process.
My name is Claire and I am a relational integrative counsellor with humanistic and psychodynamic approaches. I cover most areas in counselling but feel most drawn to helping clients explore interpersonal connections. There is much benefit in working to understand communication challenges, conflicts, intimacy issues, family dynamics, navigating transitions, or seeking to improve your relationship with yourself and others.
I bring a compassionate, non judgmental and client-centred approach to my practice, with a focus on creating a warm, inclusive, safe, respectful and confidential space.
The primary goal of relational therapy is to help better understand how we operate in relation to others and how our relating patterns can have an impact on mental and emotional well-being. I offer experience in a broad range of areas including depression, anxiety, trauma/PTSD, LGBTQIA+, and neurodivergence clients. I work with all gender, sexual and relationship diversities.

In our sessions, you can expect a collaborative approach. We will work together to explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences, identifying patterns that may be impacting your life, relationships, current issues, relational patterns and past experiences to develop new ways of relating to people. I believe counselling can help to understand patterns of relating to others, these insights help to develop a greater understanding of yourself.

Training, qualifications & experience

I work with adult individuals from all walks of life and backgrounds, bringing to me a diverse range of problems. As a fully qualified counsellor to Advanced Diploma level in Humanistic Integrative Counselling, I am a Registered Member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). As an integrative counsellor I have different  ways of working with different clients. That may be to assist clients, for instance, to heal past emotional deprivations, manage current problems, handle transitions, make decisions, manage crises, and develop specific life skills.

I draw on a range of theories and modalities. As well as a general umbrella of humanistic and psychodynamic frameworks, I offer relational, trauma informed, client-led therapy with attachment theory, parts of self, and inner child work. I work with a GSRD (gender, sexual and relationship diverse) and systemic perspective.

I am currently working with individuals only.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
