About me

About Me and my Therapy Practice

Hello, my name is Clair and I’m a Person-Centred Counsellor and Psychotherapist.

Person-Centred theory is based on appreciating that the individual is the expert on them self. Counselling helps the person to unravel and make sense of issues impacting them,  leading to clarity and peace. Accessing counselling can be daunting and it’s important to find the right person to connect with.

How Might I be able to Help You?

My passion is to assist people to cope with difficult emotions. I will listen to you without judgement and respond with empathy, empowering you to make the right decisions for you. I will not try to offer advice or solve your problems for you.

What Can You Expect?

Following your contact I will arrange a mutually convenient time to speak to you for a few minutes over the telephone, whereby I can tell you more about my method of working. We will explore what brings you to therapy and whether I am the right Counsellor for you. I will happily answer any questions or concerns, so that you can make an informed decision.

How are sessions undertaken?

I work with clients in face-to-face capacity in four locations, Sandbach, Wistaston, Nantwich or Tarporley/ Alternatively, I work remotely via telephone or zoom.

A Little More About Me

I am passionate about good mental wellbeing and strongly believe in the work that I do. I have used person-centred counselling at times throughout my life and have valued the strength and clarity this has afforded me.

My counselling experience involves work with both adults and children.

Confidentiality

My practice is compliant with the 2018 GDPR Regulations. My records are stored within a locked filing cabinet and retained for six years from when a client stops therapy.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
