About me

I offer private online counselling & psychological support for those struggling with their mental health or those who wish to maintain a sense of mental wellbeing. I provide support for a range of mental health concerns, including low mood (depression) and worry (anxiety). I also have a specific interest in grief, loss and life-stage changes.

Maybe life feels overwhelming. Issues with low mood, worry, or a lack of self-esteem might prevent you from engaging in day-to-day activities. Or, perhaps, you've lost a loved one, suffered a miscarriage or relationship breakdown. Maybe you've been made redundant or are facing retirement. Or perhaps you've taken on caring responsibilities, are finding it difficult to cope with a physical health condition or dealing with infertility issues. Whatever your circumstances, working with me will give you space to explore your situation and what it means to you. Whether you wish to move forward in some way, find acceptance, have an outlet for your emotions or talk about experiences without feeling sad, I can help.

What should I do next?

The idea of seeking a therapist and entrusting a professional with your thoughts, feelings, and experiences can be daunting. It’s essential you feel comfortable sharing things with me, and I don’t want you to have to pay for my time until you know we’re the right fit. That’s why I offer a free 15-minute consultation, whether online or over the phone, before any formal session.

This consultation allows me to understand a little of what is going on for you and ensure that I feel capable of helping. It also enables you to see if you feel comfortable working with me. During the consultation, I will ask a few questions to understand what has brought you to therapy and what you are looking for from our counselling relationship. This is also an opportunity to ask any questions about counselling and how it works.

How do I book an initial consultation?

If you feel that I might be the right fit for you, then please drop me an email or leave me a voicemail, and we can arrange to have an initial conversation about what's bothering you and how I might be able to help.

Training, qualifications & experience

  • MA Experimental Psychology, Oxford University
  • MSc Theory & Practice in Clinical Psychology, University of Reading
  • MSc Counselling Psychology, University of Roehampton (MSc equivalent completed as part of Doctoral training)
  • PsychD (Doctorate) Counselling Psychology, University of Roehampton (to be completed in 2024)

Before training as a therapist, I spent 16 years working in the HR and Talent Management industry for some of the UK's most prestigious companies. I started working in HR because I cared about people. However, the more senior I became, the more exposed I was to balancing the challenges of working and personal life. We often struggle to acknowledge the impact this tension between personal and professional life has on our psychological wellbeing. I wanted to help change that.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Further information

I offer online counselling for those aged 18 and above. As a qualified counsellor and Counselling Psychologist in my final year of training, I use a variety of psychological approaches and work collaboratively to develop a therapeutic relationship that suits you. Like any form of psychological therapy, counselling is a form of self-discovery. Improvements in your mental health come from exploring and reflecting on your thoughts, feelings, emotions and behaviour. We might consider your past or current experiences and any links, patterns, and survival strategies that may no longer serve you. My job is to facilitate the therapeutic process using counselling skills and psychological theory to support meaningful change.
