About me

Working from a base in Marlow & Reading, I offer private online and in person counselling & psychological support.

Who I work with

My own personal experiences have informed what I’m most passionate about in the therapy room (more on that later). While I work with general mental health concerns including worry, low mood, self-esteem and issues of confidence, I also have particular interests in grief and loss, physical health problems, life stage changes, trauma, abuse and neurodivergence. What that means in practice is that I work with people from all walks of life and backgrounds who've experienced or are experiencing challenges in their lives. Whether you've recently experienced the death of a loved one or pet, child or baby loss, infertility, divorce or relationship difficulties, or are dealing with caring responsibilities or a loved one with dementia. It may be that you're struggling with long-term health conditions, like chronic pain, chronic fatigue, auto-immune issues or possibly even life-threatening illnesses like cancer. Or maybe you're dealing with upcoming or recent changes such as a career change, redundancy, retirement, menopause, empty nesters, marriage or becoming a parent.

About you

Are you feeling lost? Not sure where to turn, but know that something needs to change? Perhaps you need help working through a life transition, significant event, bereavement or loss. Maybe you're struggling with physical health problems, relationship difficulties, trauma or abuse. Whatever your starting point, my goal is to help you move forward, offering a space that validates, recognises and appreciates your difficulties and also celebrates your successes in the context of your wider life and environment. Our relationship will put you at its heart, recognising you may need different things from therapy at different times.

How I work

Therapy with me will be encouraging, welcoming, compassionate, and supportive. We'll work together to consider past or current changes or challenges and help you explore and make sense of them, enabling you to move forward. That may mean building psychological resilience, finding purpose and direction, building self-confidence, developing self-awareness, or getting back to your old self.

You'll feel welcomed, acknowledged and included in the therapy space, no matter your identity or how you define yourself. I offer a space where you can be your most authentic and share your hopes, fears, and desires.

About me and why I do what I do

I'm a neurodivergent, animal lover and career changer who grew up on a farm. I have a great appreciation for nature, animals, the power of exercise, community, relationships and the role they can play in our health and wellbeing. I became a therapist after 16 years of working in HR leadership roles in the City. My change of career was fueled by my frustrations with the lack of acknowledgement of the psychological impact of life's changes and challenges in the workplace and my own transformative experiences with personal therapy.

All these experiences make me who I am, and I'd like to think they make me a better therapist as a result because I know what it's like to feel lost and unable to cope. The most powerful thing I've learned from my own therapy is that psychological suffering is inevitable, but having someone else take that journey with us and support and hold us through it can be life-changing.

I believe that having a good, healthy therapeutic relationship can transform your relationships with yourself, the world, and others. It can help you process your experiences to build a more hopeful and meaningful future. So, let’s get started! If you'd like to start living a more meaningful life, contact me for a free consultation.

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Further information

Our relationship will start with me asking questions to get a sense of how you want therapy to work, what you want to focus on and what you'll need from me in order for something to feel different. Once I know what will make you feel comfortable and safe to explore what's bothering you, my extensive training means I've learnt a range of psychological theory that I will then use to inform how I interact with you in our sessions. We'll take a positive approach to psychological support that emphasises coping skills and emotional wellbeing alongside your distress, with the aim of delivering meaningful change.
