About me

Seeking therapy can be daunting, especially when seeking help at a particularly tough time. You may be feeling stuck, lost and isolated. Maybe you’re standing at a crossroads, overwhelmed and unsure which way to go.

'The best way out is always through'    - Robert Frost

I offer a peaceful, confidential safe space, and a listening ear.

You can share your difficulties, explore your feelings and worries, safely in the knowledge that you will be treated with respect and kindness and that you will be heard without judgment.

By working through your concerns, issues and challenges, therapy can, in time, help you find the ability to face life head-on, striving towards a happier future.

We can explore whatever you decide to bring to our sessions.

You may not even understand exactly what is bothering you or causing your current distress, but taking time to gently delve into the issues at hand and unravelling any ‘knotty’ thoughts can be a relief.

Therapy helps bring a sense of clarity which in turn enables you to process things more easily.

I work with issues such as depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, bereavement and other forms of loss, guilt and shame, childhood trauma, life-limiting illness, and personal relationships. I can also help support you with your day-to-day challenges such as helping family and friends who may be suffering from their own physical and mental health issues.

I understand it can be difficult to choose a therapist and I offer a free 15-minute call either over the phone or on Zoom.  Then we can arrange an initial 50-minute session. This 50-minute session is an opportunity to see if we can work together. We will chat in confidence about your expectations and desired outcomes and I can answer any questions you may have about the counselling process.

Before our first meeting, I will send you a copy of my Client Agreement and we can discuss this during our first session.

After a few face-to-face sessions, we can talk about Walk and Talk Therapy.

Walk and Talk Therapy has many benefits and can be a useful way to connect to the bigger picture and gain a different sense of perspective.

During a Walk and Talk Therapy session, we walk side by side, discussing your issues. Physical activity can help you to relax and feel more comfortable, making it easier to open up and share your thoughts and feelings.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Wheelchair user access
Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a Counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the Counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.

I live and work in the Chalke Valley between Salisbury and Shaftesbury. There is plenty of parking space directly outside my therapy room and there are no stairs to navigate. My therapy room has an ensuite bathroom.
