About me

Hello, I’m Charlie - an experienced, qualified and registered psychotherapist with some remaining week-day availability in central London (N1 / E1) and online.

Life can feel hard, complicated - or worse. Therapy develops our awareness, enabling us to make new choices and change our lives for the better.

I provide a confidential space for us to work through whatever has brought you here. I can support you figuring out what that’s about - and navigating how and where you want to go next in your life.

Just get in touch via email to arrange a free introductory call and we can take it from there: with an initial session to meet, typically followed by weekly sessions for as long as you need.

Training, qualifications & experience

Experience: I have worked for two mental health services over the last five years, supporting a wide range of clients through their challenges to reshape their lives. Alongside my private practice, I am also a member of the assessment team at an inner-city mental health service.

Qualifications: I hold an MA and Advanced Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapy & Counselling, following a seven-year programme at the Minster Centre - the pioneers of Integrative Therapy training in the UK.

Registration: I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP), one of the UK’s national accrediting bodies. I hold DBS clearance too. This means I work responsibly in accordance with professionally recognised standards.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Other areas of counselling I deal with

Support to civilians deployed to high-risk environments: Previously, I worked for almost twenty years in security roles within government and the corporate sector, both in the UK and in conflict-zones abroad. I recognise the impact that high-pressure jobs, exposure to trauma and returning home can have upon our mental health and relationships. I have a particular interest in supporting those with similar experience: whether in the aid / development, media, medical, military or security sectors.

Further information

How I Work:

I take an Integrative approach to psychotherapy. That means I draw upon a range of therapeutic models to ensure we develop the best approach for you.

I prefer to work on an open-ended basis. I’ve found this gives my clients whatever time they need to get the most out of our work together.

I work 1-to-1 with adult individuals. Everyone's welcome.

Perspective:

I know first-hand (from both chairs) what it takes to recognise when things don’t feel right, reach out for support and put in the work to change. And I’m confident that therapy can enable all of us to develop and enjoy more manageable, satisfying lives as a result. For more about how I work, please see my website below.
