About me

Welcome. As a qualified therapist I support you to explore anything you bring to therapy. Perhaps you are struggling with a change in your life, negotiating complicated family relationships, or a painful past you feel ready to revisit. There might be a feeling that something isn’t quite right, but you’re not yet sure what that is. Whatever you bring, I can help you find some clarity and healing as we work towards you experiencing greater fulfilment in your life.

At the heart of my work is the therapeutic relationship; building trust and rapport between us is integral to the collaborative work of therapy. From there we can explore what is going on for you in your present life, and identify your intentions for the future. These might be concrete goals or might be more abstract, such as how you would like to feel, i.e. how will we know that you will have achieved what you want from therapy? I work integratively, meaning I draw upon different approaches to work with each individual client.

We might revisit past events or memories you want to make sense of, looking for clues and that help to understand how you think now, why you believe what you do, how you have become who you have become. I'll be there to support you in your journey, pausing to reflect along the way and making connections with your present experience. We'll look for opportunities for changes and shifts, helping you to be more intentional about decisions you make, your relationships, and the course of your life.

Examples of what can I help with:

  • anxiety
  • depression
  • insomnia
  • issues of identity
  • family dynamics and conflict
  • life transitions
  • relationship issues
  • cultural issues
  • late-diagnosed/ adult ADHD

I offer support that is culturally sensitive and respectful of diverse backgrounds and perspectives. I am dedicated to creating an anti-oppressive practice and welcome individuals from all backgrounds, including members of the LGBTQIA+ community and clients with disabilities.

Ready to take the next step

Book in for a free introductory 10-15 minute phone call. We'll discuss your needs and explore if we're a good fit. You can book directly through my website (linked above), or you can message me through this website.

Training, qualifications & experience

In addition to my counselling training I have a level 3 award in working with survivors of domestic and sexual violence. Recent CPD training includes: celebrating the multiracial experience, working within diversity and cultural attunement, certificate in creative practice.

I work within the BACP's ethical standards and principles. I am dedicated to my professional practice and I pursue new training and supervision to support me in my work. This is where I discuss my approach to client work, while maintaining anonymity of the client. As a member of BAATN, I am aware of issues of power and inequality, and strive to promote anti-discriminatory practice.

I work integratively with the following modalities: Psychodynamic / Cognitive-Behavioural / Humanistic / Relational

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
