About me

I know that engaging in the counselling process can feel daunting and I will do my best to help you feel comfortable and well supported while working together. Facing up to difficulties and making the changes we desire, requires courage, strength and above all kindness. I offer a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space where you can feel safe and secure enough to explore what is troubling you.

I am a registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists and my approach is integrative, which means we will work in a way that suits you as an individual. I bring a sense of openness, curiosity and acceptance to my work as a counsellor and have years of experience working with a range of issues including anxiety, depression, bereavement, abuse and trauma.

If you are feeling stuck and unsure of what you want from life, counselling can help you to determine a way forward that is right for you by exploring what your needs are and getting to know and understand yourself better.

If you are living through a period of distress and overwhelm, counselling can be a safe place to process strong emotions such as fear, shame, grief, anger or despair in the presence of another person that cares rather than feeling alone.

I am an experienced mindfulness teacher and have taught within NHS mental health services for over 10 years and at the University of Salford on the Counselling and Psychotherapy BSc .

Please feel free to contact me for a complimentary initial consultation, during which, we can determine if we are a good fit for working together. This session will provide you with an opportunity to openly discuss the reasons behind seeking counselling and I will address any questions or apprehensions you might have.

I offer both online sessions in the evenings and face-to-face sessions in Hebden Bridge during daytime hours on Fridays.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
