About me

Hello, I know that relationships and life in general can sometimes be challenging! Thinking about seeing a counsellor can feel like a big step to take and finding the right counsellor can also feel daunting. Sometimes just having someone in your corner, providing a bit of extra emotional support can make a real difference.

I recognise that your experience of what you are facing is unique to you, as an integrative counsellor I am able to draw on different types of counselling to offer you the right support for your particular needs. Whatever it is that brings you to counselling I will work alongside you, helping you explore your thoughts and feelings. Sometimes it is also helpful to have some practical coping strategies to deal with day-to-day life which I can help you with. Working to help you achieve the outcomes you wish to gain from counselling and helping you to move forward with confidence and belief are things I can offer.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a relational, integrative counsellor which simply means that I have experience of different forms of counselling and can hopefully draw on these to help my individual clients. Whilst the different types of counselling are important the thing that really matters is the relationship between us as this is where the real opportunity for change, growth and healing can take place. It is my role to create the right environment for you to feel able to share and work through whatever challenges or difficulties you are facing. My aim is to help you to feel at ease, and be able to talk openly, often the first step in being able to then work towards your desired outcome.

I have experience in working with people who are caring for relatives with life limiting illnesses and disabilities, those who have suffered abuse and trauma, and those who have been bereaved. I have also worked extensively with people who feel anxious, have lost their sense of purpose or are looking to change their life in some way. Sometimes life takes unexpected twists and turns and that can leave us feeling a little ‘out of sorts’, it isn’t always big life changes that lead us to seek help.

I’m a fully qualified, BACP registered counsellor and psychotherapist and I adhere to their Code of Ethics which supports high professional standards. I am also a qualified Coach and in my previous career spent in manufacturing businesses, I have extensive experience of working with people navigating organisational and personal change.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
