About me

Welcome to my profile. Psychotherapy with me is based on having a safe, trusting, space to explore all parts of you that might be facing difficulty in life. My aim is to offer an authentic, honest and professional relationship as we meet together to improve your wellbeing.

I have worked extensively with people who have suffered complex trauma including in childhood and in intimate partner relationships. I work with associated issues such as depression, anxiety, self esteem, parenting, trust issues and trauma symptoms. I also do a lot of work with students struggling with burnout and stresses relating to study and life balance, and people struggling with workplace issues. I have helped clients with a broad range of issues over the years and welcome enquiries from anyone who thinks I can support them in life. I work with teenagers all the way up to those at the later stages of life. I also do some limited couples work for people seeking a couples-led approach to resolving issues around communication, life changes, parenting, conflict and separation.

l have an interest in working with a lot of issues around modern day living, the environment and systems we navigate and the difficulties we face as a result. This includes working with neurodiversity in mind. I work short, medium or long term depending on your wants and needs, and take a collaborative approach to achieving your goals, pacing sessions as safely as possible to match your needs.

I offer a warm and trusting confidential relationship to explore your issues whether they be current or historic. I practice from a person-centred basis which means I offer you freedom to explore without having an agenda for you. I also implement ideas around social justice and feminism into my therapy sessions. My practice integrates trauma-informed working and practices and I have undergone extensive trauma training.

Please feel free to contact me by phone or email for an initial conversation to see if you feel I would be a good fit to help you along the way.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

UKCP
UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.

As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.

UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a Counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the Counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.

I welcome feedback on how my room can best suit a variable of people and check in with each client about any sensory or other needs. I am COVID conscious and happy to mask for any client who requests this.
