About me
Your welcome to contact me for an informal chat to discuss your needs.
With over 20 years experience and training in different modalities and 9 years practice as a clinical supervisor, I offer short and longer term therapy for individuals, couples and groups and clinical supervision for CBT therapists and EMDR practitioners.
What I can offer:
a) An initial assessment and then you can decide if you would like to book any further sessions.
With a Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy (CBP) Post-Graduate Diploma - CBT is an evidence based treatment and is recommended by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) for the treatment of depression and anxiety based conditions. Depression often occurs after losses such as the loss of a job, relationship or loved one. Anxiety based conditions include:
- panic
- coping with illness/chronic conditions
- generalised anxiety disorder
- health anxiety
- loss of confidence
- obsessive compulsive disorder
- eating disorders
- post-traumatic stress disorder
- relationship problems
- self image/low self esteem
- sleep problems
- social phobia
- specific phobia
- stress at work
- worry
b) With a Master's in Counselling I can provide short and long term therapy for individuals and couples with problems in their relationships, family or work.
c) Master of Social Sciences in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) - this treatment is most useful for those who have suffered from trauma. To write my dissertation I worked with cancer patients. They had gone through all of the medical treatment for their condition but we're left feeling nervous and anxious particularly about the cancer coming back.
Other traumatic experiences can include an incident such as a road traffic accident or it could be attachment/relationship trauma such as neglect or abuse.
I have worked with the Trauma Response Network who provided EMDR for front-line workers during the pandemic.
d) Clinical Supervision - Since 2005 I have provided clinical supervision for counsellors and since 2009 for low and high intensity CBT therapists. I have gained a Post Graduate Diploma from CPPC (Counsellors and Psychotherapists in Primary Care) in addition to training provided by the NHS for the provision of supervision for low and high intensity CBT therapists. I have received clinical supervision from supervisor's with a variety of modalities and training and believe good supervision is crucial to feeling supported as a therapist.
I am a Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapist accredited with the BABCP and work within an ethical framework in a safe and confidential environment. My aim is to offer a respectful and non-judgemental service. I have an up-to-date Enhanced Criminal Records Certificate issued by the Disclosure & Barring Service.
