About me

I believe that you matter. Maybe you need someone to really listen, and make no judgements? Perhaps you are lacking confidence, stuck in a rut, feeling depressed or anxious. I would like to help you. I am interested, compassionate, and believe that therapy can help you to:

Process and come to terms with painful experiences and memories

Accept and care for who you are and who you are becoming

Know yourself better

Understand ways you might be stuck and decide how to move forward

I am very interested in you as a whole person - working holistically may mean we explore how you feel in your body, mind and spirit. I am predominantly a relational counsellor and therapist, which means I believe that we learn and grow in relation to one another. I work in an integrative way, which means I utilise different theories and schools of thought, mainly Humanistic and Psychodynamic. Please feel free to ask me more about this.

Training, qualifications & experience

Every person is unique, and I will do my best to honour that if we work together. I have experience working with clients from ages 8 to 84, from many different cultures and socioeconomic backgrounds, and of different sexualities and genders.

I completed my PG Diploma (with Merit) in Counselling & Psychotherapy training at the University of Leeds. Alongside private practice, I currently also work with refugee survivors of gender based abuse and violence, and in a school with primary and secondary aged children.

I have most recently taken professional development training in working in a trauma informed way, and working with clients with ASD and ADHD

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
