About me

Are you looking for a safe, confidential place to explore what is troubling you? As you have come this far it's likely that finding the best professional help is important to you.

As a Psychotherapist, my approach aims not only for the relief of symptoms but for deep seated and lasting change. I offer consultations and brief and longer - term therapy, depending on your needs. My consulting rooms are a few moments from Oxford Circus in central London.

You may be wondering if I can help you with a particular issue. I have worked with a whole range of people. I see people who are having problems with their relationships, with friends and family, with study or working life, with depression, anxiety, issues related to self-esteem, identity and sexuality and those experiencing the aftermath of neglect, abuse or trauma. Sometimes the problem can be more difficult to pin down. It may feel like there are difficulties that overlap and are harder to untangle.

My approach

I offer an environment where you can explore what is troubling you without fear of criticism or judgment. Central to my work is you as an individual, your own experience and the ways in which you understand what's been happening.

Together we can look at the way you think, feel and act and consider the influence of your relationships, both past and present. Increasing your self awareness can allow you to notice and feel more in control of repetitive and painful patterns of behaviour. These may have been helpful ways of coping at one time but may not be so helpful anymore and even feel as if they're holding you're back.

Sometimes it might feel frightening  to start to talk about how you're feeling. There might be a part of you that wants help but another that finds accepting it really difficult. It can be helpful to express any anxiety or negative feelings you may have about coming to therapy. I understand that for some people, it may take some time to get to a place where you can talk freely.

How does it work?

Initially I offer a consultation process which will help us to think about your needs and whether my approach can be helpful for you. If you are interested in working with me, or have any queries, please feel free to contact me via email or phone. If I'm not available right away, I'll get back to you as soon as I can. You may wish to leave me a message suggesting a time for me to call you.

Training, qualifications & experience

I completed an extensive five year training as a Psychotherapist at Regents University, School of Psychotherapy and Counselling Psychology. I have gone on to study early child and adolescent development and psychotherapy in depth in the NHS.

As well as maintaining a private practice, I've been employed in several NHS psychotherapy departments, in primary care and in charitable organisations.

I have managed therapy services in various educational settings, providing therapeutic interventions for children, young people and parents, and supervision for trainee therapists.

I worked as part of a complex needs Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS), covering four London boroughs and continue to work as part of a specialist multidisciplinary CAMHS team in London.

I've been a mindfulness practitioner for over 10 years and have explored embodiment in a variety of ways. My work is informed by an awareness of what our bodies tell us about our experience.

Prior to my professional training I studied music.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
