About me
I am a therapist with over 25 years experience of helping people. I tailor my approach to meet your needs. Research shows that the most important thing for counselling to be helpful is a good rapport and partnership between counsellor and client. I bring warmth, compassion, humour, calmness and sensitivity to my work as well as skills built through training and experience during my long career.
You want to work things out and feel better as fast as possible. I want to help you. Together we can understand your situation, build on your strengths and increase your capacity and confidence.
As well as being a highly trained counsellor I am also a qualified and registered teacher of mindfulness which I find often helps me and my clients (if they are interested) to retrain and reshape the brain and mind to be happier, wiser, kinder and calmer.
I am also a proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community and have a wealth of life experience.

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
I am a very experienced and highly trained therapist. I frequently work to help people with depression, anxiety and stress as well as many other issues. I firmly believe that needing help is part of being human and that asking for help shows great strength.
I have worked in colleges and university settings for 21 years and have a wealth of experience with young adults and people from other countries and cultures. I also worked with staff in these settings giving me a clear insight into work-related stress and resilience building. I have been in private practice alongside this work for several years and I am now focussing all my energy on my private work.
I offer training, workshops and conference address on keynote topics including stress and anxiety, resilience, courage and authenticity. I also write a regular blog on mindfulness and run mindful events and courses. I work with business, charities, schools and individuals.
