About me

Do you feel overwhelmed, anxious, struggling to cope? Are you feeling lost, uncertain, not sure who you are anymore?

Perhaps you find yourself functioning in life, but feel less engaged or surrounded by people but feel alone?

Maybe you are experiencing life as upward struggle? You feel drained and lack energy and motivation...

Who could possibly understand? You may feel like you are the only one and anticipate judgement and rejection from others. The fear of being labelled vulnerable or weak can feel like a huge barrier and prevent you sharing your feelings or seeking support.

I want to offer that you are not alone, to reach out and share that no matter how lost you feel right now, there is a way. I wholeheartedly believe it. Like you, I don’t have it all figured out but from my own experiences and personal struggles I understand how transformative counselling can be. The therapeutic relationship is wonderfully unique, providing a climate of safety in which to be truly heard, understood, and accepted.

It’s a connection that helps to develop trust in yourself to find the answers as the expert of your life and inner world. It is a space to pause, reflect and gain clarity. You may choose to give voice to the parts of you that are hidden, but this is always at your own pace and I will respect your process. I understand it is only when you feel fully heard and valued that you can take the risk in sharing your deeper thoughts & feelings and begin the process towards self-acceptance.

So a bit about me. I trained and work as a Person-centred psychotherapist because of my own experiences in therapy and I am proud of the time I have spent in the ‘client’ chair over the past years. I have worked with some amazing counsellors and I can quite honestly say this has been equally, if not more important than any academic course or books I have read.

However, I am a qualified Person-Centred Psychotherapist and have gained a BA in Counselling studies. I am also a fully registered member of The British Association in Counselling & Psychotherapy and work to the Ethical Framework and guidelines for Good Practice. I continually update my knowledge through Continuous Professional Practice and have a real love for working creatively, even though I have zero drawing skills! (I have been assured this isn’t important though).

The initial appointment will give you an opportunity to meet me, discuss your expectations of counselling and ultimately see if I am the right therapist for you. This is so important and I am okay in whatever you decide.
I very much look forward to meeting you.
Angie

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Wheelchair user access
Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a Counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the Counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.
