About me

Hello, my name is Victoria. I understand it can be difficult to take the first brave step towards seeking counselling, especially when confronted with frightening and overwhelming feelings from the past or present. Do you feel as if no one sees or hears you, or are you overwhelmed by experiences and emotions you don't understand? Is the critical inner voice overly loud at times? This may be a difficult place to be, especially if you feel alone. You do not have to feel isolated and lost; it is more comfortable to be beside someone when things are challenging.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a BSc (Hons) qualification in counselling and psychotherapy. I trained at Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute in Nottingham.

I am an active elected committee member for a local counselling charity.

I have gained valuable skills and experience working with young adults within further educational settings.

I have undertaken further training to work with self-harm, suicide awareness, eating disorders and mental health 1st aid awareness training.

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP)

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

My personal approach is relational, humanistic, and integrative. What I mean is connection between me as the therapist and you as the client is the key to change, everyone has the capacity for development and recovery. I believe in the potential of people. As you develop resilience, the goal is to give you the power to make the choices that are best for you.

I offer a non-judgmental new relational experience respecting your uniqueness by listening, being completely present, and attentive to your experiences in a safe and welcoming space where you feel able to explore your feelings without judgement. I incorporate elements from several developmental and relational methods that have a similar theme. This is tailored to your specific requirements, I recognise each person as unique.
