About me

Hello and welcome. Thank you for showing an interest in The Pines Therapy.

Our clinic is located in Hythe, near Southampton, Hampshire, in a peaceful location nestled between the sea and the New Forest.

My journey into Counselling and Therapy began many years ago as an Emotional Literacy Support Advisor before qualifying as a Counsellor at The University of Portsmouth.

It is these experiences which allow me to offer the most important qualities of counselling, which I believe are kindness, understanding, patience, empathy, and a non-judgmental approach.

I have trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Gestalt, along with Humanistic and Person-Centred Counselling. Each of these modalities allow me to offer a personalised service which is designed to meet my client’s needs.

Alongside my studies and work, I have volunteered for a bereavement charity and a local college.

I have helped many people with anxiety, depression, low self esteem, bereavement and family issues. I have supported people that are feeling sad, that have social anxiety and panic attacks or have suffered trauma. I have worked closely with people across many concerns they may be having.

My Approach

My approach to helping my clients with therapy and counselling services is founded on the principle of Integrative Therapy.

This means choosing the practices from different therapeutic modalities best suited to a client’s particular needs and wants. By tailoring the therapy to the individual, I hope to deliver the most meaningful outcomes.

Integrative Therapy is not limited to a particular methodology and instead allows me to draw on different techniques as they are required. I work with a number of forms of therapy and personalise the approach to meet the types of challenges you may be facing.

This way of working suggests that there is no single method that is superior for each and every situation. It also means that differing theories that do not necessarily agree with one another can still be effective when combined, to benefit people with mental health concerns.

It is essential to recognise that while Integrative Therapy is flexible, that does not mean that it is entirely without structure. Instead, I will work with you to decide on the most beneficial techniques for a specific purpose and then integrate these approaches into a cohesive therapeutic experience.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
