About me

Most of us face challenges at one point or another in our lives. Perhaps you are having difficulties with a relationship at work or at home. Maybe you have lost someone you love. Perhaps you are finding that the old strategies that helped you cope in the past no longer work so well for you now.

Our difficulties connecting and communicating with others are often at the heart of our unhappiness. In therapy, we can explore where and how these difficulties arise.

I use an integrative approach and draw from a number of different theories and techniques. My overarching focus is relational - how we connect or fail to connect with others and how this affects every aspect of our lives.

My background is in the NHS cancer services where I provide psychotherapy to patients and their relatives, and facilitate reflective practice groups for clinicians. I have a special interest in cancer and the emotional impact of diagnosis and treatment.

If you are new to therapy, you may not be sure what to expect or where to start. It can also feel strange to talk about personal things to someone you don’t know. I offer an initial free phone call that gives us a chance to discuss what you are looking for and address any questions you have about the therapy process.

Training, qualifications & experience

I trained at Metanoia Institute and have a Clinical Diploma and an MSc in Integrative Psychotherapy, validated by Middlesex University.

I divide my time between my private practice and the cancer services team at Kingston Hospital. Previously, I worked for the NHS full-time as hospital staff counsellor.

I have regular supervision to support my clinical work and to ensure professional and ethical practice.

I am also an experienced meditator and have cultivated my individual practice for the past 20 years. In my previous career, I worked as traditional acupuncturist for the NHS as part of a chronic pain management team. Although I have now retired from acupuncture practice, I remain very interested in the body-mind connection.
