About me

I am a BACP registered psychodynamic counsellor with over 10 years' experience working in a counselling organisation. I have a consulting room within a therapy practice in Basingstoke. Here I offer a safe and confidential setting where we can explore difficult life events and feelings, which can sometimes leave us feeling overwhelmed and unsure how to cope.

I realise deciding to have counselling can feel daunting, but often, although we know things don't feel right, we are unable to get a sense of our situation, or make changes on our own. I believe counselling offers the opportunity to explore our unhelpful, repeating patterns and behaviours, giving us a better understanding of ourselves. This can enable us to make changes, help us to manage and create a different way of being.

You can get in touch either by email or telephone.  I will contact you and arrange an initial consultation which will give us the opportunity to see if we might be able to work together.  We can then agree a time each week to meet.

I am experienced working both short term and open-ended, therefore, we can meet for either a set number of sessions 6 or 12, or for as long as required on an open-ended basis. Each session lasting 50 minutes at the same time each week.

Training, qualifications & experience

  • I have a Post Graduate Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling from WPF Therapy.
  • I hold a Counselling Skills and Theory Qualification WPF therapy.
  • I hold a HND in Life Sciences from Reading University.

I am a registered member of British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP) and adhere to their Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy which is the UK’s regulatory governing body for safe practice.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
