About me

Introducation

I am a qualified Pluralistic and Psychotherapist counsellor. I work with individual clients aged 8+ on a 1:1 basis, offering in person or online counselling. I offer a warm, caring, and genuine space, ensuring that my clients have a physical and emotional ‘space’ to be heard and understood and their needs met. Being an experienced pluralistic therapist, I know that different people are helped by different therapeutic methods and activities at different times.

Whatever difficulties you are facing at the moment, having someone to listen and help you understand your problems can make things feel more manageable. As a therapist I provide a confidential, non-judgemental space for you to explore these difficulties, and to work with you in a collaborative way.

Life doesn’t have to feel overwhelming to seek counselling I believe in preventive counselling and psychotherapy. Investing in therapy is investing in health.

Experience and background

My speciality is in working with Trauma, I have worked for 11 years supporting women and children who have experienced domestic abuse. I have supported men, women and children who have experienced anxiety, trauma, flashbacks, depression, stress, dissociation, domestic abuse, low self-esteem, lack of confidence, family breakdown and trauma from sexual assault/abuse. I believe in walking alongside my clients as they work through their own experiences.

I have extensive experience; therefore, I am specialised in working with adults and young people around complex trauma, in particular domestic abuse, sexual abuse, including childhood sexual abuse, rape, harassment, neglect, emotional abuse, attachment, identity issues, self-harm, suicide ideation and relationship issues.

I also have experience around various issues such as bereavement and grief, depression, anxiety, self-esteem, anger, relationship issues, divorce and separation, isolation etc. Additionally, I am a qualified Theraplay Therapist allowing me to work interactively whilst working with children, young people and adults alike.

I am a trauma informed counsellor with extensive experience working with children, young people and their mothers who have experienced domestic abuse. For the last 10+ years I have run a psycho-educational groupwork programme for children and their mothers who have behavioural, emotional, and social difficulties as a consequence of their experience of domestic abuse. Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
