About me

What if there was a place where you could be yourself? Where you could bring whatever it is that is troubling you, no matter how big or small you may think it is, and share it with someone safe, who won't judge you?

What would it be like to have someone listen, really listen to you, strive to understand what it's like for you, and work together with you to find a way forward?

I began Peridot Counselling to create a space like this where you can feel safe, welcomed, accepted, valued and truly heard. There are not enough spaces in the world for this, and they are important! Time to talk just for you, where you are able to share without fear of judgement, and I can bring in my wide variety of experience and training to provide therapy tailored to YOU and your unique needs.

So tell me, what are you looking for support with? I would be interested to hear what's going on for you right now. You don't have to go through it alone- asking for help is a sign of strength, and perhaps a sign you're ready to move forward. Together we can create a safe and secure environment where you can be you, be heard, and be supported to work through whatever you may be dealing with. I invite you to get in touch with me for a free 15 minute no obligation chat, to see if we might work well together. I’m proud to be feminist, LGBTQ+ allied, Vegan allied, Anti-racist, Trauma-informed, and Autism, ADHD, sensory and additional needs sensitive.

Being heard and understood by a safe person can be incredibly healing, particularly if you’ve been used to some relationships being hurtful or distressing. I aim to make sure you feel supported in our therapeutic relationship as a strong foundation we can work from, so you feel safe while we look at what may be troubling you. If this sounds like it would be helpful for you, drop me a message. You can also check out my website to find out more. I look forward to hearing from you.

Warm wishes,

Tiffany

For over 20 years I've supported the mental health of people of all ages, from before birth (perinatal mental health), new parents and baby development, children, young people, adults, to older adults. I have worked with people of different backgrounds, ethnicities, genders (or not, inc non-binary), sexualities, faiths and life experiences. I value each person as an individual, honouring the unique qualities, experiences and backgrounds that they bring with them to therapy.

I have worked in the community with different groups of people, and in NHS mental health services including primary care mental health, CAMHS, early intervention for psychosis teams, I have worked with charities and third sector organisations like Mind, Mental Health Foundation, The Junction pregnancy and baby loss charity. I have worked in schools and colleges, with homeless and vulnerable people, in hospitals and clinics.  I have a lot of experience with children, young people and families, and particular interest in how childhood experiences affect mental health throughout people’s lives.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

What I don’t do: I don’t work with perpetrators of domestic violence or abuse.  I don’t work with actively racist, homophobic, transphobic, misogynistic or otherwise negatively discriminatory people, unless this is something that they would like to work on and explore about themselves with the intention of positive change. The reason for this is that I am passionate about equality and justice for my clients, and working with those that would cause harm to them does not feel in line with what my counselling practice is about. My hope is that this also reassures my clients about who I am as a person, which I believe is an important ingredient in their therapeutic journey.
