About me

Do you find yourself feeling overwhelmed or struggling with low mood and anxiety? perhaps you are trying to overcome the effects of long-term trauma or bereavement, or perhaps you feel you aren't living the life you want. Whatever your reasons, counselling can really help you achieve positive changes in your life as you develop a greater self-awareness and understanding.

Let me tell you a little more about myself....

I am both a practising psychotherapist and practising registered high-risk midwife with many years of experience within social care and the NHS.

Over the course of my career, I have developed a passion for mental health, and I work intuitively as I understand wholeheartedly that there is no one size fits all cap! We are all individuals, and our experiences will be relative to us. The way I practise strongly reflects this. The way we will work will very much be tailored to you as an individual, it will be relational, interactive and collaborative, i use tools to assit the work if speaking becomes difficult and its needed, and i practise following the model of Trauma in-formed care".

I have a warm and empathic approach and feel it is my privilege to sit alongside you as you navigate this time in your life.  I offer you a non-judgemental space to really talk and be heard as you discover a new level of self-awareness and understanding as we work together to explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviours in a safe confidential space.

Responses in our present life can often have links to our past experiences. Developing an understanding of this can be hugely beneficial in helping to manage our present-day difficulties. All areas of mental wellbeing interest me especially recovery form childhood Trauma, PTSD, attachment and relationship issues.

I offer various arrangements of therapy for all adults 18 years and over:

-Individual counselling for adults from 18 years and above

- Perinatal Mental Health Therapy

- Birth Trauma Therapy

-Short term sessions (6 or 12 sessions)

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
