About me

I am a qualified Counselling Therapist based in Kimberley, Nottinghamshire, and a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP).  I work within the Person Centred Modality, which is a talking therapy, geared towards supporting clients in making considered and autonomous decisions.  I work in an empathic and non-judgemental manner in order to create a safe space for clients to explore and grow their sense of self by gaining a better understanding of their personal thoughts, feelings and values related to their core challenges and life setbacks.   The essence of my work is to facilitate self-growth, so that you can overcome your challenges, which might be based around feelings of stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, sadness, family issues, bereavement & loss, or perhaps relationship or work related issues.

I have considerable experience of working with clients who have, or are currently experiencing various forms of abuse and trauma, often leaving them managing ongoing anxiety, depression, guilt & low self esteem, experienced all too often as a result. My aim is to support clients to make sense of their experiences, offering warmth, compassion and empathy, supporting a strong therapeutic relationship, to act as a springboard for the rebuilding of self esteem & confidence.  Working together to gain a better understanding of your unique circumstances, life challenges and experiences, I will offer my full attention, & support you in gaining a trust in your autonomous thinking and decision making, and see a clearer and brighter future.

My practice offers a safe and comfortable environment with free parking.

We would usually meet on a weekly basis for a period of 50 minutes, however I will always aim to be flexible to meet with your requirements.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
