About me

I am a qualified Counselling Therapist based in Kimberley, Nottinghamshire, and an Individual Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).  I work within the Person Centred Modality, which is a talking therapy, geared towards supporting clients in making considered and autonomous decisions.  I work in an empathic and non-judgemental manner in order to create a safe space for clients to explore and grow their sense of self by gaining a better understanding of their personal thoughts, feelings and values related to their core challenges and life setbacks.   The essence of my work is to facilitate self-growth, so that you can overcome your challenges, which might be based around feelings of stress, anxiety, depression, sadness, family issues, bereavement & loss, or perhaps relationship or work related issues.

In addition, I have a passion for working with domestic abuse, and the trauma and/or ongoing anxiety, guilt & low self esteem, often experienced as a result. My aim is to support clients to make sense of their experiences, to act as a springboard for the rebuilding of self esteem & confidence, by gaining a better understanding of their unique circumstances and see a clearer road ahead.

My practice offers a comfortable environment where we will aim to build a confidential & trusting therapeutic relationship, working through whatever life's challenges you wish to explore, at a pace which feels safe and comfortable for you.

We would usually meet on a weekly basis for a period of 50 minutes, however I will always aim to be flexible to meet with your requirements.

Training, qualifications & experience

My qualifications were attained through the Counselling And Psychotherapy Central Awarding Body (CPCAB), where I have completed the following:

  • Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills
  • Level 3 Certificate In Counselling Studies
  • Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling
  • Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP)
  • DBS Checked
  • Additional experience and training in working with survivors of domestic abuse.
  • Experience of working with Children & Young People

BACP

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
