About me

Hi I’m Sujarda and my aim is to help people become their best self because that is something we all deserve. I am an integrative counsellor and holistic therapist offering a range of services to support your mental health and wellbeing. I offer a holistic approach to counselling covering cognitive, emotional, physical and spiritual issues.

How counselling can help

Delivering online therapies across the UK and face to face therapies from my private practice in the centre of Edinburgh, I can help you to shift mental blocks, untangle complex emotions, resolve issues, reveal new perspectives and bring you back into balance. Whether its relaxation, self exploration and self development or addressing emotional and psychological issues such as trauma, anxiety, self-esteem or bereavement, I can help.

How I work

I offer both short term support and long term weekly appointments depending on your circumstances to both couples and individuals. Counselling usually takes place at the same day and time each week and each session lasts around 60 minutes. I offer integrative counselling to individuals, combining theory and techniques from the three main counselling schools of humanistic, psychodynamic and cognitive behavioural therapy. This means that I tailor the therapy to each client, not each client to the therapy.

What happens in the first session?

During your first session, I will talk you through the process, answer any questions and then ask you to go through your history and what you would like from counselling. As the counsellor / client relationship is so important to the process, the first session is also a chance to decide if we would both like to work together and if my approach and personality suit you. We then work together on a flexible basis to support you current situation and counselling goals.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
