About me

Hi, I’m Steve,

Welcome!

I’m a warm, approachable & empathic counsellor. I bring a still and calming, energy that can feel reassuring to be around.

I offer a space where you can feel respected, valued, and heard without judgement. Where you can feel safe, and where you can explore what’s going on for you at your own pace.

I’m registered with the British Association for Counselling and psychotherapy (BACP) (membership no:403056). See the video at the bottom of the page to see how you can check that for myself or other BACP members.

I offer 50 minute weekly person-centred therapy/ person centred counselling sessions. I work face to face in central Leeds (LS1), and from Beeston (LS11) or with clients across the UK over Zoom video/ phone sessions, and I also offer walk and talk therapy. So whether you want to have sessions in person, virtually from the comfort of your own home, or out and about in nature- we can work the way you want to.

Prices

Free 20 minute phone call/video call

  • £50 per session for face to face in Leeds (LS1) or in Leeds (LS11)
  • £40 per session remotely (online via video call/ telephone call
  • I offer a limited number of concessionary sessions (which are considered on a case by case basis, starting at just £30.00 for online/ telephone sessions.)

If you would like to find out more, why not arrange a free 20 minute chat via telephone/ video call over zoom, or email steve@heardtoday.co.uk (as I might be able to move some things round to suit your availability). We can use this time to see if we would be a good fit together, and to let you get a feel of what I’m like. There’s no pressure at all to go forward after this step.

  • It can often be a very brave and courageous step to seek out counselling/ therapy. Whatever your reason(s) for seeking help,  I’m glad you’re here!

“Having counselling with you created a secure space where I felt at ease, allowing me to openly share my thoughts and feelings without hesitation.” (A client’s experience- shared with their consent.)

How can I help? If you want more information you can see that on one of the videos I’ve uploaded further down the page, but just briefly…

I won’t give you advice, or tell  you what to do. So you can feel free to open up, without me having an agenda.

1. You can open up

I will give you the space to open up, and to be yourself without judgement.

2. You’re putting yourself first. We can find in our busy lives that we don’t have time for ourselves.

Working together- We are both setting aside other distractions. The 50 minutes is your time to use as you find useful.

Many of my clients appreciate just having that time to come and ‘reset’.

I will give you my an opportunity to put yourself first.

3. You can be truly heard and understood. As a qualified  counsellor I have undergone years of training to develop my skills, and ensure we are working safely.

I am committed and determined to understand exactly where you’re coming from and to help you process your thoughts and feelings.

When we are truly heard and understood, this can be  a beautiful and a very profound thing.

I offer you a time to be truly heard, respected and understood.

4. Be valued , and accepted

No need to be perfect!

I am able to hold a safe space in a supportive and encouraging way and help you to feel this is your time.

I invite you to be yourself and help you to feel accepted,  and valued without needing to be perfect, or articulate yourself a certain way.

5. You are not going to be gossiped, about behind your back- you’re protected by confidentiality! Except  under very specific circumstances what you say to myself as your counsellor remains confidential.

If you decide you would like to work together, I will help you to understand very clearly when confidentiality may be broken- and be assured that your privacy and anonymity is paramount

I offer you a space where you can really talk about what you feel is important, and do that in a safe and confidential way.

Is it your time to be heard today?

Why not get in touch for a free 20 minute phone call/ video call to see if we would be a good fit and if you would like to work together?

If you have any questions- do feel free to get in touch.

Alternatively, head to my website Heard Today Counselling - heardtoday.co.uk for more information.

What can I help with?

There may be many reasons why you might be contemplating counselling.

I have helped clients experiencing a range of issues, like the things you are working through.

Perhaps you’re struggling with a diagnosis or symptoms of depression. Your anxiety or social anxiety may have been through the roof since COVID? You might be struggling with family issues, or find the stress of life is getting too much. You might be struggling to work through a bereavement, or are suffering from low self-esteem or low self-confidence.

You may feel out of sorts or that you can’t be yourself. Perhaps you struggle to feel accepted with ADHD, or because you are neurodivergent. You may feel numb or are experiencing very intense feelings such as guilt, grief from a loss, or shame. You may feel alone, overwhelmed or unheard.

It feels like we all have many pressures, and you might feel close to burnout. You may feel that you need some help, and don't know where to turn?

If you do not see what you're struggling with listed under things I can help with, please get in touch. My training enables me to help a broad range of clients with many diverse issues.

Whatever brings you here, you’re very welcome. This is a step on your personal journey, and I hope it’s a positive step towards being heard and understood, and feeling some improvement in your life.

Thanks for taking the time to view my profile, and all the best on your journey,

Steve

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a Counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the Counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.

I have access to a property that is wheelchair accessible, if you need this please say- as regrettably the other room is up 2 flights of stairs
