About me

Hello my name is Stephanie thank you for looking at my profile.

The decision to start counselling can be a difficult, it can be the  first step into understanding yourself and some of the unconscious behaviours and Attachments styles,  that may be having a impact on your emotional wellbeing. everyone has there own  view of life and the people in it. Depending on this view it  can affect all aspect of there life both positively and negatively. This view can come from past experiences.

Most of us experience challenging times and experience distressing emotions. Sometimes, we may ignore them or learn unhealthy ways to cope with  can result in keeping us stuck and feeling low.

Working together in a relaxed and trustworthy environment, we can look at what keeps us stuck and stops us  achieving the life we want. Therapy can be a place of change, personal growth and self acceptance .The  end result is a better understanding of ourslves. Allowing ourselves to be who we are. losing the critical voice that that stops us from building a positive sense of self.

My experiences in both counselling and life has given me the ability to understand & look at issues from another perspective. Showing empathy, being non judgemental giving people the  space and time  to explore different issues and behaviours  .

I have eight years of experience in the counselling world. The therapy is client lead, working professionally within the ethical guidelines set out by my proffessional organisation BABCP and BABCAP Respecting confidentiality and empathy in all aspects of the therapy.

My first qualification was Integtative counselling which meant I was trained in person centred, psychodynamic and CBT. After completing this I went on to do Degree in Psychology in Children and Youth, then following this I completed a high intensity CBT Masters. My next step is training to be a counselling supervisor which I have just started (jan 2024).

I am fully insured and hold a full DBS certificate.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
