About me

I am a qualified integrative therapist who has been practising counselling for over 16 years. I have been working for The Priory Hospital group for 12 years and have previously managed two of their inpatient treatment programmes. I have also been working in private practice for 6 years.

I can confidentially help clients with any presenting problem or who are just struggling with day to day issues. You may have suffered a bereavement, be struggling at work or you may want to talk about your level of alcohol use. I am also very experienced in supporting you if you are struggling with the impact someone else’s behaviour may be having on you.  Sometimes you might not even know what is wrong; you may have anxiety, or you need some space and time and for someone to just listen.

My experience and commitment will enable me to support you and listen to you without judgement; I appreciate that it can be a daunting experience to access counselling. I have great admiration for all my clients who are taking a risk and striving to not only feel better but to understand themselves on a deeper level.

My counselling experience has been in a variety of settings including the Prison Service and private hospitals/rehabilitation clinics. I have also worked with children and young people in the community. As well as extensive experience working with individuals I am an experienced group psychotherapist and have worked with couples and families as part of my work in treatment centres.

As well as being a highly experienced addiction therapist I am a qualified developmental childhood trauma therapist. My training gives me a humanistic basis allowing empathy and ultimate faith in your ability to be your own best healer. This combined with my experience in 12 step treatment, CBT, DBT and trauma therapy allows me to offer a diverse range of resources and treatment styles to best to support you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
