About me

A warm welcome to you...are you experiencing any of the following...

  • Feeling lost in the darkness and just getting through the day?
  • Feeling pressure to live up to others expectations?
  • Fearful, trying to please others, keeping busy or distracted to avoid thinking and feeling, avoiding conflict and criticism?
  • Feeling angry or frustrated a lot of the time?
  • Family or relationship difficulties past or present?
  • Feeling exhausted no matter how much rest you get?
  • Suffering with anxiety and/or depression, or lost any sense of joy?
  • Feel alone, or fear ending up alone?
  • Have a critical voice in your head putting you down?
  • On edge and feel like it’s all too much?
  • Find it hard to trust people and let your guard down?
  • Find your ways of coping are not working anymore or causing you further difficulties?
  • Do you keep experiencing the same problems and feel like you’re going around in circles but don't know how to break the cycle?

Counselling can help, you don’t have to face it alone. You can contact me on 07480 064552 or by clicking the email me tab above. I will respond to you within 24 hours.

I will work with you with warmth and compassion from my cosy, warm room in Independence House, Edgerton, Huddersfield or online. We can explore what is going on for you, begin to figure it out and work towards how you would like things to be.

Counselling can help you make sense of what is happening and respond to your thoughts, feelings and actions in a way that brings relief and an opportunity to do things differently. You don't have to keep feeling this way. Things can feel better with the right support for you.

I understand that coming to counselling can feel nerve wracking. Often though, speaking with someone outside of friends and family can help. I offer a free 20 minute phone call for us to have a chat about what support you are looking for and if I'm the right fit for you.

I provide a professional and friendly service. I will meet you with a warm smile, gentle nature and go at your pace to allow you room to explore what is going on for you in a safe and manageable way.

How we will work together
Counselling is about you, you choose what you want to bring to our sessions together. Perhaps it's all muddled, you don't know where to start or you want to get it all off your chest. I will provide a safe space to meet you where you are at and together we will begin to figure it out and work towards the future that is right for you. I work in a person centred, integrative and relational way which means I am trained in different approaches so that I can adapt to meet your individual needs and work with you as the unique person you are. I put our relationship at the centre of your therapy as this has been proven to be the most important factor in successful therapy. This means I will fully accept you, without judgement. I will listen to you, build trust and walk alongside you in your distress to figure out a way forward together.

I work short term and long term in person, online and via telephone.

Please feel free to get in touch.

My work with Children and Young People
I am highly experienced and qualified to work with children and young people. Growing up has many challenges in the busy modern world that we live in. If your child is struggling, please get in touch where we can chat about what they are experiencing and how the therapy I offer could help.

I take a gentle and playful approach when working with children, this allows them to communicate their difficulties in an age appropriate way and allows us to explore what may be helpful for them. I also use different creative techniques when working with children and young people to allow them to communicate in a way that suits them.

This may include, drawing, playing games, creating, music, media etc. Ultimately, I will meet your child or young person in their world through their chosen way of communication so that they can feel seen, heard and understood.

I am passionate about early intervention with children and young people to avoid further difficulties and to allow them to lead happy and fulfilled lives.

Please do not hesitate to get in touch today.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
