About me

Hi I’m Sophie, a Counsellor who has 20 years of experience working with adults, couples and children. I work with a variety of issues including self-esteem, anxiety, depression, marital/relationship problems, stress, work related issues, addictions, bullying, family issues, teen problems and many more. I have training in couple counselling and am an accredited member of The National Council of Psychotherapists and a member of the BACP. I am also a BPS qualified supervisor.

How can I help you?

I am caring, compassionate, empathic and very approachable. I offer a safe place for you to express yourself in a non judgemental way and will help you understand your patterns of behaviour. I will be your fellow traveller alongside you and work with you towards healing and a better way of life. We all need a helping hand from time to time and to me the most important thing i believe in is that to feel truly listened to valued and heard are the first steps to recovery.

“To be happy you have to make peace with your past, love the present and feel so excited about the future” - Marisa Peer

I have witnessed the power of therapy first hand within my lifetime. As a mother of three I went through challenging times and experienced feelings of 'empty nest syndrome'. As a result I looked for a non-judgmental and safe environment to offload my issues. From my own experience, I believe that sometimes just letting things out is enough to make us feel better without burdening our loved ones. This process when combined with a genuinely caring person who wants to help and is able to empathize with you is invaluable. For me what resonated the most with therapy was the ability it had for empowerment, allowing me to take control of my own feelings and life. I am truly grateful that I had this opportunity to better myself through counselling.

How do I work?

I draw from a wide range of therapeutic techniques to suite the individual needs of my clients. I myself come from an extended family and therefore have a great understanding of ethnic and cultural issues as well as Western culture. My core aim is to empower you and to help you achieve a better quality of life. My approach to counselling is to challenge your thoughts whilst also maintaining a comfortable environment for you to express yourself.

Counselling sessions

I offer face to face counselling but also provide online counselling via Zoom, Skype and video chat depending on individuals or couple’s needs. Overseas clients are welcomed, and appointments can be set up to accommodate your needs.

Let’s change your life together, I’ve seen counselling change the lives of so many people and I know I can help change yours too. Please get in touch today, you can call me on 07342 213358 or click here to send me an email.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Further information

Patterns and behavior that make you unhappy do not need to stay that way forever. Many of us are just surviving and not living, struggling silently and before we know it this becomes our reality, not living the life that you deserve. We cannot always change our circumstances, but we can adapt a different thought process which can change your life around. Well-being all begins with the relationship you have with yourself. You are reading this page which means you have given yourself the permission to rediscover yourself with the courage to face whatever it is that is causing your path to be blocked. We will work through any issues together in a safe, non-judgmental way, confronting any negative experiences within your life. I will provide you with coping skills and techniques that will aid you when feeling stuck. It sometimes can be very difficult to talk to those we love simply because we do not want to burden them.
