Neurodivergence affirming therapist (ADHD, autistic, AuDHD)

About me

1 in 5 of us who are neurodivergent and more of us will have neurodivergent traits. Often we self-identify or are formally diagnosed in adulthood leading us to re-evaluate our experiences and looking forward think about what might help us.

Welcome – I’m Silja, a therapist with a deep commitment to supporting individuals through complex emotional landscapes, especially those shaped by trauma, neurodivergence, and challenges in your life and environment. My approach is integrative, relational, and grounded in both psychological insight and embodied awareness.

With over two decades of experience in education, neurodivergence affirming therapeutic practice, and leadership, I bring a unique lens to therapy – one that honours the whole person. I work with adults, young people, and professionals navigating anxiety, burnout, depression, grief, identity shifts, and developmental and interpersonal trauma, and working through attachment patterns.

My practice is informed by:

Somatic and trauma-informed modalities
Psychodynamic and humanistic principles
Attachment theory and neurodivergence affirming practices
I founded Acorn to Oak Education to bridge therapeutic and educational worlds, and I continue to advocate for inclusive, compassionate systems that support emotional wellbeing. I also offer supervision and consultancy for therapists, educators, and organisations.

Clients often describe me as warm, insightful, and encouraging. I believe therapy is a collaborative space where you can feel seen, heard, and empowered to make meaningful change.

Areas I work with include:

Developmental and relational trauma
Anxiety and emotional overwhelm
Neurodivergence (including ADHD and autism)
Identity, belonging, and life transitions
Burnout and workplace stress
Grief, loss, and recovery

Sessions are available online and in-person in London. I offer a free 15-minute consultation to explore whether we’re a good fit.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
