About me
Hello, I'm Shaun, a psychotherapist based in Hertfordshire.
With twenty years of experience in emergency services, I have developed a deep understanding of resilience and coping strategies in dynamic and challenging situations. This extensive background informs my approach as a therapist, enabling me to offer practical skills and insights to my clients.
Applying both Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and a humanistic approach allows me to provide a comprehensive therapeutic experience that is both structured and personalised. I am committed to fostering a compassionate and empathetic environment where you can feel safe exploring your thoughts and feelings. Together, we will focus on your unique needs and experiences to help you develop effective strategies for navigating life's challenges with resilience.
As an integrative therapist, I use various therapeutic approaches, including person-centred therapy, attachment theory, psychodynamic therapy, and existential approaches, and tailor them to meet your specific requirements.
I specialise in supporting individuals through challenging life situations, such as bereavement, relationship breakdowns, retirement, and the aftermath of traumatic events. With over five years of experience working for mental health services, I have the knowledge and skills to assist clients with complex needs. My ultimate goal is to empower clients to confront their issues confidently and clearly.
I believe everyone has the potential to grow and heal, and I am deeply committed to providing the support and encouragement necessary for this journey. Together, we will explore your challenges and work toward achieving your goals, helping you emerge stronger and more resilient in the face of adversity.
I understand how daunting the thought of therapy can be, which is why I offer anyone considering me the opportunity to contact me for a free, informal phone or video call. There's no obligation, and you can ask any questions, helping you feel less anxious about the process.
Furthermore, I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). As required by my professional bodies, I am fully insured, have an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, and am registered with the Information Commissioner's Office, ensuring the highest data protection and confidentiality standards.
Thank you for considering me as your therapist. I look forward to the opportunity to support you during these challenging times.

Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
