About me

I'm a qualified Integrative counsellor offer counselling and psychotherapy for issues such as bereavement, loss and grief, trauma (childhood and PTSD), stress, anxiety, depression, abuse (emotional, coercive control, sexual violence), addiction, anger management, relationship problems and low self-esteem.

As a trauma-informed practitioner with lived experience and with specialist training in this area, I am keen to support individuals on their recovery.

I work integrating Humanistic approaches and drawing aspects from the Psychodynamic model of therapy exploring how past experiences influence present thoughts and behaviours; cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), Solution Focused therapy and Transactional Analysis.

I have a keen interest in how people hold onto and express trauma and loss, and how this can manifest in relationships. Much of my work looks at attachment patterns, relational and developmental trauma, complex and delayed loss and grief.

I have a Certificate in Somatic Trauma Theory and Skills as I believe the mind and body are connected and painful emotions can be manifested somatically.

You may have come to counselling with a specific issue you wish to focus on such as loss and grief, trauma or more generalised feelings of stress, anxiousness or low mood. I am committed to offering time and space to reflect in a non-judgemental, empathic, and confidential environment to look at and explore difficult experiences and feelings, as sharing our unspoken painful thoughts and feelings can have a transformative effect on our emotional and physical wellbeing.

I offer in person and online counselling.

Feel free to contact me by email if you have any questions about how counselling works, or to arrange an initial assessment appointment. This enables us to discuss the reasons you are thinking of coming to therapy, whether it could be helpful for you and whether I am the right therapist to help.

You can book a free 20 minute call back here or call me on 07872 963334 if you would prefer to leave a message or speak to me first. I am happy to discuss any queries or questions you may have prior to arranging an initial appointment.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

My aim is for you to feel comfortable and safe within a good therapeutic relationship based on trust and understanding. This will enable you to feel more comfortable expressing your most difficult thoughts and feelings. I understand how overwhelming it is when taking your first step in looking for a counsellor, and it is important that you find one that is right for you. I offer a free 15 minute initial telephone or online consultation to discuss what brings you to counselling and what you would like to achieve from counselling. It also gives you an opportunity to ask me any questions and decide if you would like to work with me.
